Upriver Workout – MO & KS Rivers
May 13 @ 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM
Free
Kansas City area paddlers: Who’s up for a workout?!! We’ll meet near downtown and first point our bows upriver on the Missouri River and do a “treadmill” for a few minutes to get warmed up, then head back onto the Kansas (Kaw) River to paddle 5 miles upstream and stop on a sandbar for a quick break, then head back to our starting point. The goal is a workout, so plan to go at a steady pace with no stops. If you’re extra speedy, you could do up-and-backs on the Kaw to meet up again with those of us going relatively slower.
After, we may head to a nearby downtown Kansas City patio for conversation over food and drinks if schedules allow.
Required: River paddling experience AND 14 foot or longer kayaks or fast performance-type paddleboards or canoes because of the distance and speed. This is not a good match for new paddlers or shorter/slower boats or boards so check other events on our Paddle KC Paddling Club calendar for many other fun activities. We’ll cover safety measures before launch.
Paddle KC is a Kansas City area paddling club and ACA Paddle America Club, hosting activities monthly and over 100 events a year. We’re a friendly, inclusive, active group of kayakers, paddleboarders and canoeists focused on paddling together to have fun, build paddling and safety skills, enjoy time outdoors, and grow connections.
