Midwest Kayak Fishing Symposium

If you have fished from shore but are looking for more, a kayak may be what you are looking for. Want to make the dive into Kayak Fishing? Are you leery of making beginner mistakes? Having a hard time finding dependable information to help get you started? Looking to take your kayak fishing game to the next level? Then you will want to join us at the Midwest Kayak Fishing Symposium. This is an interactive informational and educational event for all levels of kayak anglers. People just getting involved in the sport to more seasoned anglers, there will be something for every angler.

Details: A four-hour interactive seminar and demo paddle. During the event, Rocktown Adventures Fishing Team will present on the following topics. Each presentation will be 30 – 45 minutes in duration.

-Paddling Techniques -River Fishing Techniques -Tournament Fishing -Kayak Rigging

In addition to the information, attendees can demo paddle fishing kayaks to learn what fits their kayak fishing needs or decide if kayak fishing is something they want to pursue. Use our experience to ask questions so you can avoid the mistakes we made getting into the sport! We will have rigging accessories and paddles on hand for purchase. As a bonus to the great info and paddling opportunities, all paying attendees will receive a coupon for 15% off kayak accessories. You must attend the event to receive a coupon. Just registering will not qualify.

Location: Olson Lake at Rock Cut State Park. The event will be staged by the dock on the west part of the lake. Due to road construction on the east side of the park, Olson Lake is only accessible from the Harlem Road entrance. You cannot access Olson Lake from the Rte. 173 entrance.

Price: $20 with half of proceeds supporting the Illinois Smallmouth Alliance. Kids 12 and under are free.

What to bring/wear: Please wear shoes that can get wet. Avoid cotton if you want to go out on the water. It retains water and does not insulate when wet. Fishing pole and tackle if you want to make a few casts.
