Gros Morne Paddlefest

 Registration is now open for an exciting new paddling festival in Western Newfoundland. The Gros Morne Paddlefest is set to launch on the weekend of June 23-25. A working committee of paddlers and tourism operators in Western Newfoundland are putting the finishing touches on the festival that will feature a mix of paddling activities and land-based events. The schedule of activities is designed to offer exciting experiences for children and adults at all levels of paddling abilities.

 The paddling venues are scenic locations in and around Bonne Bay. The sea kayaking tours and clinics, voyageur canoe tours and SUP tours explore the beautiful arms and bays of Bonne Bay. Kid’s kayaking programs take place in Spirity Pond, a majestic mountain lake that’s also a KOA park with camping and cabin facilities. Flat water canoeist will enjoy the waters and sandy beaches of Rocky Harbour Pond with a view of Gros Morne in the background. 

The festival is meant to be a family affair offering activities that includes an evening campfire and picnic on the beach, music and food at the Norris Point waterfront. Land-based events feature tours of the Bonne Bay Marine Station, tidal pool walks, beach clean-up tour for the Atlantic Healthy Oceans Initiative and a session on essential camping skills.
