Bennett’s Creek Bash

The 26th Annual Bennett’s Creek Bash Canoe, Kayak, & SUP Race / Fun Paddle and MAPA General Membership Meeting will be held Sunday April 23th at 0900 at Bennett’s Creek Park in Suffolk. The recreational race will be 2 miles and the advanced class will race 5.2 miles, Fun Paddle any distance at your own pace. The race will benefit the MAPA and Girl Scout youth paddling programs. Entry fee $20 for MAPA members, $25 for non-members, Free for Girl Scout and Youth participants. Pre-register and pay your dues ahead of time as there will be swag for only the first 40 paddlers entered. Make checks payable to MAPA or pay online via www.paypal.com , send money to Mid-Atlantic Paddlers Assoc. via email address: Canoe_Dude@cox.net make a note of which type vessel you will be paddling. You can also pay your dues this way: Dues structure for 2023: “Basic” MAPA membership – individual $20, family $30, individual Military or Student $10, “Outrigger” – individual $50, family $75, (includes “Basic” MAPA membership) ACA membership is available at reduced rate (PAC discount) via ACA website.
Please come out even if you don’t feel like racing. Bring something for the grill or to share; look forward to another great day of paddling. We are going to have a Mike Day.

General Membership Meeting & Cookout 11:00- 12:15 (bring something for the grill) Post race (11:00ish): Cook-out and short General Membership Meeting at the picnic shelter followed by trying out everyone else’s boats. Barbeque grill fired up so BYOBBB (Bring Your Own Burgers/Beer/Butt Rest (lawn chair))

One of MAPA’s early season races on the protected waters of beautiful Bennett’s Creek in Suffolk. If you don’t feel like racing, come out and paddle all or part of the 5.2 mile course
Hardly any navigation required, since the course is out and back on the creek. Low tide is approximately 6:30 am, with High tide set for around 12:30 pm.
